Tortilla Warmer
Are you tired of trying to keep your tortillas warm from the oven to the dining room table? Tired of having to get up during the middle of dinner to reheat more tortillas? You need a tortilla warmer!
A tortilla warmer is used to keep tortillas warm. A warm tortilla is softer, more malleable, and just tastes a whole lot better! Tortilla warmers come in a variety of styles, shapes, and designs and can be made of ceramic, plastic, terra cotta, styrofoam, clay, or various fabrics such as cotton or nylon. Although they may vary in design, style, and price, they all work pretty much the same.
How to use: Separate the number of tortillas you will be using so they do not stick together. Place the tortillas in the warmer, replace the cover (if your style of warmer has one), and microwave your tortilla warmer according to the following times (of course, microwave ovens vary, you may need to adjust these times for your particular oven):
| Type of Tortilla | How Many | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Corn | 1 to 4 | 20 to 25 seconds |
| Corn | 5 to 8 | 30 to 45 seconds |
| Corn | 9 to 12 | 50 to 60 seconds |
| Flour | 1 to 4 | 15 to 20 seconds |
| Flour | 5 to 8 | 25 to 30 seconds |
| Flour | 9 to 12 | 35 to 45 seconds |
Remove the warmer from the microwave and keep the cover on (if your warmer has one) until you are ready to eat. Your tortillas should stay warm for 30 to 60 minutes. Pancakes, pita bread, and rolls also work well in a tortilla warmer.
The type of warmer we prefer is a fabric tortilla warmer made of cotton. A well-made fabric tortilla warmer will keep tortillas fresh and warm for over 1 hour! This video shows How To Use a Tortilla Warmer.
